Layla doesn’t really play with toys aside from boxes. I have bought and made her many different kinds of toys and she has maintained a steady indifference towards most of them. This is a three part guide to the easiest DIY toys, which have all been approved by a very picky bunny.
You have probably seen this little gem everywhere on the internet, including this tutorial from therabbithouse.com, but I can not sing its praises enough. It it is such a simple and effective idea. It encourages healthy hay consumption and keeps your buns minds active. I often see Layla pushing it around the ground while she tries to get the hay out of it.
The best part is that it is so easy to make! Take a toilet paper tube and stuff it with hay. I like to cut holes in the side for her to try and pull hay through. You can keep refilling it with hay and when it has had its use you can recycle it. How great is that!
The only downfall with this one is that it can make a bit of a mess. Lays likes to pull all of the hay out of the roll and then proceeds to eat some of it off of the ground, leaving the rest to sit waiting to be cleaned up. Even with the mess this one has my vote!
